I used to have a strange, unjustified hatred for the 1960's. Maybe because I associated it a little too much with the whole flower power, groovy baby, austin powers stuff, or maybe I just never really gave the decade a chance. Either way, after a few hours of browsing through Flickr groups devoted to the decade, I've found myself falling in love with the bright colored opaque tights, the big circular buttons and earrings, the three quarter length sleeves and mini dresses worn with short, stacked heels which seem comfortable and easy to gallavant about the city in....
Modern girls like Zooey, Rhiannon and Effie who wear the clothes so well make me want to go out on a thrift hunt right now.....and 60's stars like Twiggy, Francoise Hardy, Jane Birkin and Catherine Deneuve are only fueling the fire!

I think I'll add some movies from the decade to my Zip list this week, does anyone have any particularly good ones to suggest?
Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward of the musical duo She & HimI'll be on a hunt for shiny fabrics, bright-primary colors, opaque tights, knee socks, mini dresses, 1960's pumps and thin belts to wear right below my bustline for the next little while!
I haven't given up on my love for 1970's blouses, chambray everything, edwardian ruffles & lace and 1920's drop waist dresses...I'm just gonna throw a little flower power into the mix! Who knows, maybe I'll manage to pull it off!

I used to dislike the 60s too (and it's still not my top-favorite decade!), but slowly started to become fond of it once I started looking past the tacky part of the decade! In fact, the gown I wore in my wedding last November was an early 60s creation! So it isn't all bad... lol!
Definitely check out The Thomas Crown Affair for gorgeous clothes! Faye Dunaway has some really cute outfits... I'm drawing a complete blank for other 60s movies that I like right now. :p
The 60's has to be my favorite! I just watched two wonderful french films from the 60's with Anna Karina! Pierrot Le Fou and A Women is a Women, both are directed by Jean-Luc Godard. Both have wonderful fashion inspiration! Also there are always Elvis films...lol :o)
Oh yes and if you have Netflix just look up stars like Natalie Wood and Ann margret :o)
for some reason, i have had a bizarre fascination with the 60s for as long as i can remember. if i could've picked when i was born, i would've wanted to be about 21 in 1967.. for several reasons. the clothing, the music.. not to mention the fact that it's the only time in history that detroit has done something useful, pop culture wise.
I know!! I have a love-hate relationship with the '60s . . . I *hate* hippie stuff, always have, but there were some really cute things from that decade! Biba stuff is still super inspirational, and movies like Darling and Rosemary's Baby have the most wonderful little dresses!
