These past two days, I spent every free moment I had at McGill annual charity drive Book Fair. Room after room of dusty old books ranging from subjects like "Girlhood in the 1920s" to Frank Capra's autobiography with just about anything you can imagine in between! I'm still sore from carting my first load of books with me on the subway all the way home, and while my second load was smaller, it was none the less packed with treasures! The lady I was paying at the end of my spree was quick to figure out I was "some kind of an old fashioned girl" when she saw most of my books were about things like "The joys of Girlhood", "Recipes of Quality", Ginger Rogers' autobiography and a pretty great silent film book with fantastic pictures I'll be scanning in next time I visit my parents!

Well the new kitten and Lola and I asked my sis if she'd be willing to do a silly little photoshoot of me in my most Brownie inspired outfit! I was working with what I already have in my closet, but this is what I came up with! The dress is something I found in the kids section at Value Village. It's totally strange and sort of unflattering, and just the tiniest bit too short to actually wear out of the house, even with tights on....but I love it too much because of the little tie and the peter pan collar, so sometimes I put it on with a skirt over as a little blouse...The hat was on sale at Urban Outfitters this week, and while I'm still not sure about the stud-like things, I like how it fits and it's keepin' me head warm! The shoes were thrifted by my Mom for me not too long ago and I love them to death. It's too bad in less than a month it'll be too snowy here to wear them out of the house...so I'm getting all the use I can out of them for now...

**I'm sorry if I've been horrible at responding to comments recently. I take the time to read all of your blogs, I'm usually just so rushed with school and essays and the new job that I have to close the computer before I get the chance to comment back! But I appreciate all your comments all the time, and I promise to catch up on all that I've missed as soon as things slow down!**
***Anyone have suggestions as to what we should name kitty? We aren't sure yet if it's a boy or a girl (gonna have to get the vet's opinion...though I'm thinking boy?) and we can't figure out what to name him/her!***

hehe, so cute! I love Dear Creatures! Your new kitty is the sweetest! I can't think of a name at the moment, but it should be a perfect match with Lola. You probably already thought of that though, haha!
I'm thinking bout ya! Hugs! :o)
Adorable outfit! I love your taste in books. I'm a vintage book fiend, with sadly not enough shelves to support my collecting. One day I hope to have my own study or library with walls and walls of books...
Oh the sight of your little kitten made me cry - he/she looks like the long lost twin of my old kitty (who passed away a few years ago). Her name was Lady Jane and just like her name she thought she was royalty.
I think sometimes the name ends up just coming to you - once you know their personality a little more

I just love book fairs. I always buy too many books when my library has it's book sale ;) Sounds like you got some good ones!
I love your outfit, it's so adorable. That hat looks really cute on you.
Your new kitten is so precious. Hmmm can't think of any cute names at the moment. I hope you find one that fits him/her perfectly.
And I think your dog is a cutie!

Aww, wow, that outfit of yours is super Dear Creatures!! It's so adorable . . . and you sitting there with your little animal friends, oh dear! Lola and a kitten!
I can't wait to hear more about the books you got, too .. . . especially that silent film one. :)
aw, this is too adorable. and such a coincidence since i am wearing a vintage 1950's brownie uniform as my halloween costume this year! so funny!
gahh so cute! i love old books - i just spent half of my last paycheck at a used book sale. i found so many wonderful books!
Cutest kitty!!!!!
I like the name Diego for a boy and Wendy for a girl. My cat is named Oliver, but someone else named him that b4 we got him.
i love old annuals, they're so kitsch. i especially love the 'advice' they give, which seems so old fashioned now!
Your little dress is so adorable! Love your kitty! Boy calls one of his cat "Meow", thought that is quite cute, since that's the calling of a cat.
Your cat is so adorable!
Mh....I am weird when it comes to naming pets (or things in general). I like really old names, like Chester or Ruby, haha
I really love your little dress. gosh, it is so hard to find really pretty vintage dresses like these here where I live :(
MEGGIN I AM FREAKING OUT OVER THAT LITTLE MIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok I think you should name it Princess FlufflePuff if its a girl and BabyMikeyNiro if its a boy. Or Pickles! Pickles is pretty unisex.
My dentist is going to kill me I am grinding my teeth to dust look at its little fluff fluff face screeeeeeee
Oh I am just soooo jealous of your little kitty!! I want one so bad!! he/she's just the cutest!! xxx

My gosh, this entire post is just sooo adorable! I love the little tie and peter pan collar on the dress.
Book sales are the absolute best. You can find such treasures there (as you did) and I love the satiating feeling when I score big time at book sales.
P.S. Your pup and kitten are so cute! I'm afraid I have no valid suggestions for naming your kitty, though, I'm shit when it comes to that. My last cat was named "Kitty," no joke.
You sent me the wrong dress.
Please refer to Etsy.
This is very urgent!

Oh I would KILL for that vintage Brownie book! And I wasn't even in the Brownies. What a great look and collage.
you're adorable!! I want to see more of that thrifted dress!
and we named a cat at Neil's parent's house Salina, after an Avett Brothers song. and another one we named Ayn, after Ayn Rand :)
You look great, I love the book you are reading... and CONGRATULATIONS ON THE NEW KITTEN! We have a new kitten, too, a 14-week-old named Taroko George. We rescued him after somebody dumped him by the side of the road :-(.
i love it! you look so cute, and so do your little animals as well! is your kitty a maine coon? she looks so similar to my cat when she was still a kitten...

Puppy, kitty, and Brownie! The cute trifecta is complete!
I like proper men's names for boy kitties, like George or Sebastian or Wallace. My big furry darling's name is Oliver!
Love your Brownie outfit- I was in both Brownies and the Girl Guides as a kid, the annual looks so fun. And eeeeeee very very cute kitten! When did you get him/her? xx
Oh my...you look as cute as can be!! The Dear Creatures collection really is incredible, and you look like the perfect little '60s brownie!! I love all of the old girl scouts/brownies stuff...that book sounds incredible! I recently just found an old boy scouts book from something like 1914! Craziness!! Aw man, all of the books you found sound perfect!
xx
So, so cute!!! Book sales are always the best, imho--you never know what fun treasures you'll find! :) Can't wait to see some peeks at that silent film book...
