I wish I could provide you guys with a pretty, vintage inspired, girly-yet-spooky Halloween post like so many other bloggers, but the truth is, this was Mike and my first Halloween together (he's been on tour with his band every other year) and we went ahead with our silly homemade Marge and Homer costumes! There is a picture up of us on my facebook for anyone who wants to see it, I only had one picture, and I sort of felt like it didn't make for a good blogpost, so instead I'm posting about me and Mike's adventures in Old Montreal from last Friday! We've both been so busy lately with job related stuff, school work and his band leaving on tour tomorrow, that we've had trouble finding time for our usual urban adventures...So on Friday, we both played hooky and spent the afternoon wandering around the historic district of Montreal. Armed with extra large coffees, we walked up and down all the cobble stone streets mostly people watching and stopping to read all the historical plaques we came across....It felt really great to be able to walk around being nerdy like we love to do. Simple things like that take the back burner to busy schedules so easily, and it can be so comforting to get back to them, even if they're just silly habits like coffee and walking around the city.

Anyhow, it's back to reality for both of us! Mike leaves on tour tomorrow for a week, then he's back for a week (just in time for my birthday) before he leaves again for another three weeks! His band (Trigger Effect) will be travelling across Canada with Priestess, and if any of you are along their path, you should go check out the show! Spot the drummer and let him know you know me, and I'm sure you'll make his day! (Drummers never do get the credit they deserve!)
In the mean time, I'll be canning, pickling, baking, sewing and knitting in preparation for my homemade Christmas! I've got all my weekends till the big day booked with crafting and cooking plans which should (hopefully) provide me with acceptable gifts to give out! Wouldn't it be fun if we all organized a big vintage clothing swap? Pick names out of a virtual hat and pick something out for the person we picked? Does anyone else want to organize that? I'm just too busy!!!

What utterly dreamy images, they make me feel like I'm right back in Montreal. Something about that red coat is just perfect for that city.
Lovely post, I love the shots of you in the street, so scenic and fall inspired with your coat and the leaves... happy almost bday!
A clothing swap sounds great. But I'd be no good at planning something like that:) I love the photos, especially the last one.
Oh, I adore this outfit! Those boos are crazy cool! Are they flat or heeled??? It looks like you and Mike had a great time. That's sad he'll be going away, though great he'll be back for your bday! That swap sounds amazing! I wish I wasn't so busy too!!!! I have to start thinking about planning something else, hehe! hugs doll!
You're lookin' super adorable! I didn't share any photos of my costume either (Hansel & Gretel). Oh well! And btw, I'm a huge Priestess fan so yay for your bf's band! Wish they were coming my way, I'd be sure to check them out.
Montreal looks so gorgeous!! I must visit someday.
Adore your dress and boots!!

Nice photos! I've never been to Montreal, or any of the Eastern parts of Canada! A clothing swap would be pretty great.

Montreal looks so lovely! I've always wanted to go there. I can completely relate to the small comforts of simple things like going for coffee and walking around town - my husband have a similar weekly tradition and when we don't do it, I feel like I've missed out on something!
Your little dress is too cute, and I love it with those boots!
You clothing swap idea sound so fun! I wish I had the time to organize it as well. Maybe someone out there agrees to organize!
I totally saw the costumes on FB... awesome.
I LOVE that last picture of you on this post... such a cool shot!
what a cute outfit. i have a drummer for a boyfriend as well, haha! they get a bad rap, but we know better :) & the virtual swap sounds like a great idea!
Oh my, the clothing swap idea sounds so good!
Beautiful shots, I have to say Montreal looks a lot like Old Europe in these pictures. Which of course is a nice thing :-)
I love your dress, I have a few which need altering hopefully before summer.
That last photo is just amazing!

The street looks so beautiful and the photos so dreamy! Love your red coat! Clothing swap is such a lovely idea! Wonder if anyone would host all the photos of items they want to swap and do a massive swap among bloggers, then it would be so wonderful!
How fun! I always used to love nabbing a cup of coffee from my favorite cafe and walking around some of the old towns in Virginia. Especially when the weather starts to turn cold--there is something so fun and invigorating about it! Alas, I haven't been able to do that this fall. :p
Oh my--you sound like you're all set with your Christmas planning! I'm trying to sort out my ideas for things I want to make as gifts (mainly baked goods), and decorating projects. We're hosting my in-laws this year for Christmas, and I need to spruce up the apartment with some holiday decorations a bit! Can't believe it's already getting towards that time of year... yikes!
What a cool place... looks really great! I wish I could visit it some day!
I would love to do a vintage exchange, but like you I feel I'm the wrong person to organize it.
wow! what wonderful photos! you look gorgeous, i really like the last one.
your preparations for the holidays sound great, nothing like homemade gifts.
Adorable outfit--I'm in love with the jacket and boots!
What gorgeous photos! Old Montreal is so beautiful. I can see why you guys had fun walking around together there. I love your outfit, your dress looks so adorable with those boots :)
Glad were able to spend Halloween with Mike this year, haha your costumes sound so fun!
Cute shoes! And I'm curious about the Simpsons suits but I don't have facebook. Great halloween idea though!
a vintage blogger christmas swap would be fantastic!!!
love the photographs too :)
pretty!
the swap is a wonderful idea! we should do it for sure!
Hey Meaghan! UMMMMMMMM YESSSSSSS let's have a clothing swap!!!!!
I did it last year and everyone found some amazing things. I think the trick is, you have to invite people who have a similar style and everyone has to bring at least 5 pieces.
Clothing swapppp!!!!
These photos are so gorgeous! The Xmas swap sounds like a great idea, even though I can't participate b/c I'm all the way in Taiwan. I can't wait to see what everyone gets, though!
your dress is lovely!

Adorable outfit from head-to-toe! Drummers don't get enough credit; they're usually my favorite in a band!
